Active balance in everyday life

Sedentary work and physical inactivity are major health challenges in modern working life. Many people spend most of the day in front of a screen, either sitting or standing in the same position for long periods. Both reduce the natural variety of movement our bodies are designed for.

It starts with your feet …

Your feet are the foundation of your posture. When you stand still for long periods, the body loses its natural micro-movements. This can feel like fatigue, tension and reduced concentration. Steppie activates stabilising muscles from the feet upwards, without you having to think about it. Small movements. Big impact.

Designed for everyday ergonomics

Steppie is a robust, long-lasting tool for daily micro-activity at a sit-stand desk. Steppie ApS has received the German IGR Innovation Award for Ergonomics.

  • Improved circulation
  • Less muscle fatigue in the legs and lower back
  • Better stability and balance
  • Measurable increase in heart rate and energy expenditure
  • Can complement selected rehabilitation activities
  • Made in Denmark from recycled plastic
  • 10-year warranty

Steppie is intended as a supplement to general physical activity and an active lifestyle.

Steppie supports your body

Standing on Steppie offers many benefits. You support your body and improve the conditions for long-term health:

Prevent

More variation in your working posture can reduce strain and fatigue caused by prolonged sitting or standing. Small movements throughout the day support circulation and contribute to greater wellbeing and a more comfortable working day.

Micro-exercise

Steppie creates gentle, continuous activation of the stabilising muscles, especially in the feet, legs, hips and core. It does not feel like exercise, but your body keeps working in the background.

Burn more energy

Micro-movements during the working day measurably increase heart rate and energy expenditure. For many people, this means more active minutes that can be recorded with a smartwatch, heart-rate monitor or activity tracker.

Steppie is made for people who work at a sit-stand desk.

The purpose is simple: we integrate activity into your working day with no extra time, changing clothes or interruptions. Standing on Steppie creates small, natural shifts in weight. This micro-exercise automatically activates your back, core and circulation while you work.

Dynamic posture: Stand more comfortably for longer.
Full concentration: Your body stays active while your focus remains on the task.
Simple effectiveness: No sweat, just more energy.

Soft Top: Colours to match your style

Alongside practical, neutral grey, the Steppie Soft Top mat is available in five colours – ideal if you want to match your office, personalise your Steppie or simply choose a colour that brings energy to your day.

Steppie vs. a balance board

Steppie was inspired by the traditional balance board used in physiotherapy and strength training. A standard balance board is deliberately challenging and highly unstable. That level of instability is not suitable for office work, so we “tamed” the concept. Steppie provides a wider standing surface and controlled side-to-side movement, keeping the body active without compromising concentration or a safe working posture.

Small radius, no backward tilt, flat surface and shock absorption

Steppie is designed for small, controlled movements that add variety to standing work without disrupting the body’s natural posture. Its carefully calibrated radius determines how quickly and how far the board responds when weight shifts. This provides the desired movement and muscle activation without making the standing position unnecessarily unstable.

The design prevents backward tilting, while the flat, shock-absorbing surface supports a safe and comfortable stance over longer periods.

Materials

Steppie is made from recycled PP-co plastic (polypropylene copolymer) and consists of 100% recycled material. This creates a robust construction designed for many years of use.

Steppie Soft Top is made from TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane), giving a comfortable surface and good grip beneath the feet. The Soft Top can be removed and washed at 30–40°C. Its clips are made from durable POM plastic (polyoxymethylene).

Steppie
Standing at your desk instead of spending the entire working day sitting can make a significant difference to your wellbeing. Steppie helps you stand comfortably for longer, giving your body the healthy variation and movement it needs while you work. Steppie is made from 100% recycled PP-co plastic.
Steppie Soft Top

Steppie Soft Top takes the concept of an anti-fatigue mat to a new level. The raised bubbles are designed according to reflexology-inspired principles and provide positive sensory feedback when compressed beneath your feet. This makes Steppie Soft Top dynamic and comfortable to stand on at your desk. The mat is made from thermoplastic polyurethane.

Research and documentation

Steppie is supported by a broad body of research into movement, ergonomics, micro-activity and health behaviour. Overall, the evidence indicates that reducing sedentary time and increasing low-intensity daily activity can have measurable benefits for health and wellbeing.
